Curriculum
Intent
Here at St Oswald's RC Primary School our vision is to create a primary school that encourages it’s children to achieve their full potential. We want our pupils to leave this school having developed academically, personally and socially. It is important to us that our children become confident, loving and inquisitive young people who have a desire to learn more and more each day.
We aim to provide every child with an engaging and varied curriculum that they can take with them on the next step of their journey.
At St Oswald’s the curriculum is designed to: build on prior knoweldge of the children, incorporate their experiences, allow them to develop their personal interests and skills, build resiliance and to become creative learners and critical thinkers.
We recognise every child as an individual. We celebrate and welcome differences within our diverse school community. In order for our children to learn we ensure there is a teaching of the basic skills, ideas, values and knowledge. We try to provide as many enrichment activities as possible to engage our learners in the curriculum.
Alongside our children, at the centre of our curriculum are the Catholic values of love, honesty, trust, forgiveness and respect. Our local community is also an integral part of our school curriculum. We invite visitors and parents to share the children's learning.
Children leave St Oswald's with a second family. They know and understand that they are valued and have been equipped with the skills to be successful learners.
